Hair Growth Treatments

If you are experiencing excessive hair loss and are on the market for hair growth treatments, you will realize quite quickly that making sense of your options is no easy task. There are certainly no shortage of options available. In fact, the hair growth industry offers hundreds if not thousands of products, treatments and various remedies to help you solve your problem. When faced with this, most end up overwhelmed or simply confused about what they should try and where they should start. Some simply take up the first product they encounter claiming to solve a hair loss problem. And more often than not, this leads to disappointment and dissatisfaction. So if you find yourself in this predicament, here is some advice on where to start. The first thing you need to determine is what is causing your hair loss condition and understanding this can potentially save you a ton of money while you attempt to solve the mystery of your own personal hair loss.

One thing you have to keep in mind when dealing with a hair loss problem is that hair loss can be caused by a number of different reasons. This can include our diet, our environment and our genetics. And what works for one person simply may not work for another. So do yourself a huge favor and attempt to find out what is causing your hair loss before deciding what to try to fix it. Do you have a history of male pattern baldness in your family? If so, your genes are more likely to be at fault for your hair loss. But if this is not the case, your condition is more likely to be caused by your diet or your level of stress. Many people do not realize that suffering from poor nutrition can be a very common cause of hair loss. Just simply eating better or taking vitamins for hair growth can make a big difference in our ability to grow healthy hair.

If there isn’t much of a history of hair loss in your particular family, you could be experiencing hair loss due to a medical condition. There are a few ways that doctors often treat patients experiencing problems keeping their hair. Rogaine is an over the counter remedy sold in a liquid or foam that contains the drug Minoxidil in low dosages. Many people experience slower rates of hair loss after using Rogaine and some can even see regrowth. For more serious conditions, Propecia is often prescribed. This is administered in a pill form and contains the drug Finasteride. This is another option for slowing hair loss or to attempt to grow new hair but it does sometimes cause a side effect of a lowered libido.

For those that cannot solve their hair loss issue through medication, there are a number of surgical options. These can be tremendously more expensive but for some are the only way to get the desired results they are after. Surgery for hair loss now includes hair transplants, injections and even scalp reductions. Before going down the road of seeking surgery, I’d suggest trying to better your diet and exploring products like Rogaine. But if your appearance is really that important to you, you can choose to pursue surgery as an option. Having a hair transplant or injection may be a final fix for your hair growth condition but remember these are not inexpensive options. For example, a hair transplant can run anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on the number of individual hair grafts needed to produce the desired results. If you do have the money and desire to try surgery and find yourself frustrated with the lack of results other options have provided, research your options very carefully and make sure you see a doctor with proper experience in the field. Remember, all surgery is still surgery and comes with a number of dangers and risk factors that go along with undergoing any type of medical operation.
