The first home hair growth remedy is massage. Everyone knows what a healthy massage can do to the scalp. It increases the flow of blood to the hair follicles and brings vital nutrients and oxygen to them. This is conducive to good hair growth. A good formula for massage oil can be a blend of six drops each of lavender and bay essential oils in a base of four ounces of either almond, sesame and soybean oil. This will be applied to the scalp for 20 minutes and care should be taken not to strain the hair too much. Another method of massage that is oriental in origin is called Qi Gong in which a hand is placed at the centre of the skull and tapped towards the ears. Keep returning to the centre of the head but a little higher in position than before and repeat the cycle.

The second type of home hair growth remedies are substances that can help to lower DHT which is a derivative of testosterone which can cause hair thinning and hair loss. One important herb that has been found to be efficacious in this respect is called saw palmetto. This herb is an effective anti-androgen and is promising in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Nettles are also efficacious in this respect and are also rich in vitamins C and A, several minerals and essential lipids. Rosemary and sage are also found to be efficacious. A mixture of rosemary, sage, peach leaf, burdock and nettle can be used to strengthen the hair.

There are some conditions that can cause hair loss such as eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis that can be related to hair loss. Remedies such as jojoba oil can be used to treat the inflamed scalp conditions and also helps to control dandruff. It also clears sebum and provides the hair with vitamins and minerals. Aloe vera and Henna are also important herbs for healthy hair growth that can be used to make home remedies.
