How to Encourage Growth of Hair Naturally

Modern hair care is all about stripping the hair of oils, using chemical hair products to hold hair in place, and exposing the hair to a variety of chemical treatments for coloring, curling, or straightening the hair. This kind of treatments results in damaged, brittle, dried-out hair that sheds easily. Fortunately, there are natural ways to encourage the growth of hair and promote healthy, strong hair.

Scalp Stimulation

Our scalp contains nerves and blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. Rosemary improves blood circulation, while fighting off free radicals that could hinder the growth of hair. You can combine the oil with a scalp stimulating massage for further encouraging circulation to your scalp and hair growth. Rosemary oil is available in health food stores and can also be purchased online from an essential oil supplier. To ensure that the rosemary oil you use is free from pesticides/herbicides, purchase an organic rosemary oil. Pesticides/herbicides may accidentally get infused in the oil when it was being processed.

Vitamins for Hair Growth

Certain nutrients have been shown to considerably increase the growth, strength and elasticity of hair. Some of these good nutrients include the B vitamins, particularly vitamin B3, B5, and B6. Sources of vitamin B3, or niacin, include salmon and crimini mushrooms. Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, is present in liver, corn, and sunflower seeds. Sources of vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, include bananas, chicken breast, and tuna. Biotin is another helpful nutrient for hair growth that can be found in oats and lentils.
