Injections for Hair Growth

Injections for Hair GrowthMany already know that they can increase hair growth by introducing proteins and vitamins to the body or by merely stimulating the scalp with beneficial substances. But another lesser known method involves receiving injections for hair growth. This method can either stimulate hair to grow faster or help to revive the hair follicles that are no longer producing hair. Injections are often used to treat alopecia areata which is a hair loss condition caused when your immune system mistakenly attacks your hair follicles. This results in areas of thinning hair and can even cause hair to fall out in clumps for people affected by the disease. Hair growth injections are certainly not available in an over the counter capacity and are also not offered in all areas. This hair growth treatment is only administered by a licensed doctor and must be accomplished under a high level of medical supervision.

Hair growth injections were developed as an innovative solution for hair loss for those not interested in pursuing surgery such as hair transplants. It is commonly offered by doctors through hair restoration centers such as Northwest Hair Restoration. This process involves injecting a mixture of the biomatrix ACell and PRP or platelet rich plasma directly into the patient’s scalp. Receiving this treatment only takes an hour or two and involves a much shorter period of recovery than surgical solutions for hair loss. Patients can see results in as little as 2 months but for most it takes between 4 to 8 months to notice improvements in hair growth following an injection. This solution for hair loss is far cheaper than surgery but can still cost a lot more than most available products and treatments. A hair growth injection usually runs between $2,500 and $3,500.

Usually hair growth injections can show far superior results than that found by using many other products and treatments. But there are some common side effects associated with having a hair growth injection you should be aware of. Some patients experience dizziness, head aches and eczema. Other than that, hair growth may also tend to spread to other untreated parts of your body such as your face. The injected substances applied to the scalp can sometimes have an effect on your skin that surrounds it. Unintended effects of these injections are not reversible. And most of the time, this treatment is the last option that men consider when dealing with personal hair loss. Be aware that results vary as well depending on when you choose to pursue injections for hair growth. This method typically shows much better results for men who are early on in the process of losing their hair. Older subjects with more extensive hair loss often do not show the same results as men who are first starting to experience hair loss and turn to receiving an injection earlier in the process. If you are considering having this procedure done, we suggest consulting a doctor as soon as possible to see if they feel you are a suitable candidate for hair growth injection through a licensed clinic.
