People look to buy kids hair growth products for different reasons. It may because they want them to quickly get long hair or to re-grow hair that is lost because of a medical condition. The good news is that, whatever the reason, there are products created for this propose. Some are prescription products, but there are several that you can purchase without one.


Thymuskin products are natural products available in the form of a shampoo, gel and treatment. You can use the shampoo every day but twice a week is recommended. The gel should be applied just before going to bed and left on. You can stop using this product after 12 to 18 months. The treatment should be used twice a day for eight to twelve weeks.

Griseofulvin is a prescription strength medicine used for fighting fungal infections, such as Tinea Captia (ringworm of the scalp), Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) and Tinea unguium (onychomycosis). You will need to take it daily by mouth for a couple of months. The medicine is combined with a shampoo called Nizoral which is used two to three times per week.

Steroid Injections

The doctors may use steroid injections when the other options are not available or do not work. This method of treatment is sometimes used for a condition called Alopecia Areata which can result from an abnormality in the immune system.

Diphenylcyprone (DCP)

DCP is a new hair growth medicine that Telogen Effluvium patients can use. Extreme stress is the cause of Telogen Effluvium. In research, DCP has seen positive results, but it is not recommended for children younger than 12 years at the moment. The reasons being safety issues and side effects associated with DCP.

Selenium Sulfide

Selenium Sulfide is the primary ingredient present in shampoos designed for kids that suffer from hair loss because of Ringworm, bacteria that are contagious to others. 1% and 2.5% strengths of selenium sulfide are used on the scalp for controlling dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis symptoms. A doctor’s prescription is required for 2.5% strength in the US.

When seeking a treatment for the hair loss problem of your child, always consult with his physician before selecting a program. Knowledge of the side effects, the time duration for which your kid will use the product and the expected outcome is important before using any kids hair growth product.
