Methods to Help Hair Growth

Although there is no instant method of making hair grow, there are certain things you can do to lessen hair damage, improve hair quality and grow longer hair in lesser time.

First of all, pay attention to your health and take a well-balanced diet. Avoid or at least reduce smoking and caffeine intake. Avoid fats and sugars. Take a supplement that contains one or more of the following: biotin, vitamin B 6, zinc, magnesium, folic acid, sulfur beta-carotene, and/or silica after consulting your doctor. These are nutrients help hair growth; however, do not exceed the recommended dosage as doing so can be harmful, even fatal.

It has been proven that a protein-rich diet promotes healthy hair growth. There are different sources of protein you can use. Some people recommend the use of calf liver, wheat germ or granulated lecithin to improve the vitality of your hair and speed up growth. If you don’t have high cholesterol, eat beef twice a week. Egg whites are another source of protein. Vegetarians can use soy.

Avoid over-processing, over-styling or over-brushing your hair. Limit the number of perms or colorings you get. Also, limit the amount of time you use a pony tail, and limit the amount of time you brush your hair. Prolonged use of pony tails and excessive brushing can damage your hair and this will cause hair breakage. It is much easier to grow out hair when it isn’t breaking off constantly.

Try to purchase better quality products for your hair. Don’t buy drug store shampoos and conditioners that read ‘silicon’ or ‘ammonium laurel sulfate’ on the label, because these are very harsh ingredients that actually dry out hair and damage it, no matter how moisturizing the product claims to be. You can find better hair products for sale at a salon. They’ll probably cost you more, but it will be a good purchase. You may also want to use hot oil treatments each week (available at drug stores) for protecting and improving the hair shafts.

Significant levels of stress are another factor that can inhibit the growth of your hair. Try to reduce stressful situations and take up relaxation techniques, such as meditation to help hair growth.

There is no magic formula for slow hair growth, but following these tips can help you increase the rate of head hair growth and make your hair look healthier. Eat healthy and be good to your hair and you will see a difference.
